A fully functioning virtual version of a classic physics lab apparatus: Torque. This app can be used to study rotational equilibrium using a system including a rigid body (meter stick), a variable-position fulcrum, clamps, hangers, masses, and even balloons for upward forces. Use it as a lab replacement in the classroom, as a demonstration tool, as a study aid for homework, or just for exploration.

This apparatus is just like the real thing, with a few added benefits. You can adjust the fulcrum position from 0 to 100 cm on the meter stick. You can add up to 4 clamps and hangers to distribute downward forces via masses anywhere along the meter stick. The masses include 10 different ‘Mystery’ masses whose weights can be determined through experimentation. You can also add up to 4 balloons, of variable buoyancy, to the system to throw in some upward forces - something truly unique to this virtual environment. These upward forces can be perpendicular or at whatever angle you decide. The app also has the option for massless clamps to test more theoretical situations. Try it today!
